If you manage to edit a song or create a completely new one, you may want to share it with your friends and get their opinions and even some advice. Ohm Studio was created to satisfy this particular desire. To say that it is just an audio editing tool would be an understatement. The program provides you with a huge amount of professional editing tools, but it also gives you access to an online community of audio editing enthusiasts. The best part is that it gives you the possibility of collaborating with other people. In other words, you and your friends can work together on the same project, in real time, even if you are on different continents.

There are many reasons to consider Ohm Studio a convenient solution. First of all, it comes in several editions, including a free one, which doesn't hinder you with any hidden restrictions or annoying ads. Also, regardless of which version you choose, you will get free online storage space for up to 200 projects. Furthermore, the program is available for all popular Windows and Mac OS X platforms and it can be installed quickly, without any effort.

Besides installing Ohm Studio on your machine, you also need to create an online account and use your credentials to sign onto the program's desktop interface. Once you are logged in, you will be greeted by a central dashboard, on which you can manage your projects and chat with other Ohm Studio users. You can either chat with everyone at once, in a main chatroom or engage in private conversations with individual users. It is also possible to add people to a contacts list and to access an online manual, a forum and your personal inbox, from the same dashboard.

When it comes to managing projects, it must be said that Ohm Studio allows you to work in a comfortable and elegant manner. The projects you are working on, as well as public and clonable projects are listed on separate tabs. Selecting a project will display a waveform and a Play option, beneath the list, so you can listen to the audio track. In addition, the program displays a selected project's description, genre and other details in the same area. If the project is yours, you can edit this information. Furthermore, you can play a project's audio track on the Ohm Studio website, through your online account. Obviously, you may log into your online account on any browser from other computers and find the same projects, organized in a similar manner.

When creating a project, you can decide if you want to make it public or private, visible or hidden. Also, you can set the project to open, if you want to let everyone open and edit your track or set it to closed and invite specific users to join in.

A particular aspect of Ohm Studio, which you will definitely appreciate, is the fact that it focuses on both the online community and the audio editing parts in equal measure. When you start editing, you will notice that everything you need is placed neatly at your disposal. You may import multiple audio tracks and MIDI files, on separate tracks, adjust them on their corresponding panels and more. You can also add compressors, equalizers and other plugins and link them with your audio tracks on a modular panel. Although the interface looks a bit overloaded with knobs and dials, a few minutes of practice is all you need to master the program's controls. Also, a series of tutorials and rich tool tips can be activated, to help you get started.

Pros

Ohm Studio comes with a wide variety of audio editing tools. It allows you to make your project public in an online community, so that other users can help you edit your tracks. What's more, installing the program and learning its controls is not difficult.

Cons

There are no obvious flaws to address. Based on its flexible capabilities and its excellent support for online collaborations, one can easily argue that Ohm Studio is an essential audio editing tool.
